Dont plywood over compound. Plywood is for preparing wooden floors.
You can use 300 or Mapei Renovation screed. You want to really plywwod the wooden area and then bring a compound up and over the plywwod area (you need a fibre screed for this) like fballs 700 or the mapei product i mentioned. I think there is a sticky post on this forum for preping wooden subfloors. Have a read.
