  • Hey Robbie, I have just had a decorator round and he was meant to start today to eggshell our hall/stairs/landing, he was adamant about using Dulux satin sheen, So this morning he has cancelled our job. We have always had oil based eggshell on our walls in the hall - can you recommend anyone, we live in Trafford Area of Cheshire - thanks
hi mate, saw your tip re linseed oil and turps for brickwork. i have just got a log burner and had my hearth opened and want to do the brickwork but am a little unsure about using turps there. would it be o.k. as long as i leave it for a while before using the stove?

Yeah its fine. Its not oozing vapours and the if anything the brickwork may just get a little lighter as the turps evaporates because of the warmth. There is no chance of anything igniting so don't worry on that score.
Hi Robbie - I saw your post about not being able to paint over thompson's water seal (new improved formula) as it has silicon in it .. I applied the thompson's to my wall, but do need to paint it with sandtex (as there are tiny cracks in the bricks which let in water) - what are my options?

    Regards

You can use a silicon based masonry paint, this can be used over K REND as well I think.
