    I'm often asked is there enough heat in the ground or air to directly supply all mt heating and hot water needs?

    The answer to the question is NO.

    The ASHP/GSHP system needs a trick to do this, which is to use the refridgerent cycle to perform this trick.

    What is a heat pump?
    Simply, it's the collective name for the refridgerent cycle.
    If you've got a fridge in your home then you've got a heat pump because that's exactly what one is. It's just using the heating side of the cycle not the coolong side..
    Haha, no... I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I didn't see that ending coming, although I know that quite a few other people did cotton onto it
    You're right, I'm a big fan of Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars, it's a shame they wont be making any more, but all credit to the producers for ending the show while it was still so popular
