We’ve just had a new house professionally remediated for mould. We’ll need new ceilings ( = plastering) and parts of the walls need to be plastered.
We’ve been advised to look at plaster bonding other than gypsum bonding, since this can apparently attract moisture. What type of plaster bonding...
So I’m reskimming this wall, I rolled yellow grit on it first and then levelled it up with some bonding (wall was curved) . Before I skim with multifinish tomorrow, should I PVA the bonding or shall I roll some more yellow grit on it?
I have an area above a door where the plasterboard is stepped because the stud framing was off. Can I just apply bonding over the shaded bit to level it ready it for skimming? Also , do I need to prepare the joins and edge at the ceiling with mesh tape or paper tape or can I just put bonding...
I’m replastering a stair winder, having hacked off some bits and built up other areas with bonding, there are some areas that I initially used easifill on that I’d like to add another inch or so to. Can I apply bonding over the easifill, or should just build up easifill layers slowly? Or should...
Hi,
Hoping someone can help.
I have a wall (double skin cavity wall) that had damp. The damp problem has been fixed and the bricks are now dry. I have painted it with sand + cement tanking slurry with a waterproofer added. Can I get away with bonding and then skim? I’ve read somewhere that you...
So I'm a little confused as to what the plasterer is supposed to be doing having had some different advice.
I've taken the walls back to brick in my 1930s victorian home. I have spotted some damp in the kitchen so got a damp specialist in to have a look. He noted some of the work of the...
Where is the bonding cable to be attached to the gas pipe now that the gas meter has been moved? The old bonding was attached to a forged steel 90% elbow on the top of the meter but the new meter has 22mm copper going in to the meter top.
You can see where the olde worlde fuse box was sited and...
I currently have a bond to the MET on my gas pipe, as per gas regs. There is no bonding on the rising main, which comes in in MDPE before switching to copper at the stop valve. The pipes at the boiler are cross-bonded. I have a TT installation with an earth rod, a Wylex NS consumer unit, and a...
I have seen both configurations in pictures and videos as listed below, and can't find the section in my copy of BS7671 to say what is the correct or preferred method if there is one?
All I can find is that the MET's (Does that also include the one inside DB's/CU's?) must be easily accessible...
Evening,
I base coated a brick wall with bonding on Sunday and haven't had time to skim it with miltifinish.
I should get around to it tomorrow evening.
Do I need to PVA it or dampen it with water to control suction or just crack on?
Its defo set but I don't know if its totally dry as such.
Cheers.
Hi,
Long time reader, first time post..
I have recently dot and dabbed a chimney breast wall with plasterboard. When pulling out the old fireplace surround it pulled off some plaster on the corners and on the perpendicular walls and has gone back to brick.
I have levelled the plasterboard...
I have recently been carrying out some work which has required me to lift a lot of upstairs floorboards and it has enabled me to see the wiring that feeds into the flat roof space of a single story extension. The extension was built well before we moved in. What I have found is that they have...
Hi all,
My first post here but just wanted some advice on a project I've started. I'm doing our hall, stairs and landing at the moment (at last after 19 years in the house), taking off the old woodchip has resulted in much of the plaster coming away as well, it was the original crumbly lime...
Putting aside the fact that Supplementary Equipotential Bonding is often not needed these days in accordance with the 17th edition providing that all circuits in the bathroom are protected by a 30ma RCD, all incoming services are mains bonded back to the MET, and that all circuits meet the...
