For a while now I've had cracks in the plaster of the bathroom ceiling and have just started filling them as I'm concerned about moisture affecting the plaster but just today I've noticed new step pattern in the attached picture. Would trying to fill and repaint be enough?
Hello to everyone here,
I am very worried right now, we have had our top roof done and scaffolding was used to help the roofers. The scaffolding was put up on the front porch, down the side and on the single storey kitchen roof. The problem is the kitchen roof!
The scaffolders were big and heavy...
Hi,
My kitchen ceiling has cracks in the corner - see photos. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. FYI this is in a Victorian terrace.
I'm going to get a trades person in fix this, and my questions are:
- What trade is best to repair? I've guessed at plasterer - hence posting on...
i have a large beam that cuts through the corner of a room and there was some loose filler between the plasterboard and the beam which i raked out, now there a few large gaps down the side of the beam, almost 10mm wide that go up into the loft. Whats the best way to fill this gap?
Hi all,
When removing the coving, i found this crack in the ceiling.
Would you replaster or would you change the ceiling?
Other parts of the ceiling are fine.
Just this corner is cracked badly...
We have a loft ladder that unfortunately sits over the top of a recessed GU10 spotlight, so when we had our insulation topped up, the combined weight/pressure pushed down on the top of the light fitting so that it protruded slightly from the ceiling.
I'm not sure the light was fitted...
Hey guys,
I had peeling paint on the ceiling beside partition wall at top level of three story Victorian red brick terraced house.
I scraped it back but it's like chalk. I found layers of like a skim then paper then a wooden board. But I also have found cracks and they are also in the hot...
Hi all
We live in London in a block of flats (not on the ground floor) and have noticed a crack in the ceiling that runs across one of the rooms (room 1), through to the next room (room 2) and horizontally down two of the walls (in room 1).
I obviously don't want this to worsen.

Hi, I have recently had the displeasure of discovering a leak (second time) which is coming through my kitchen ceiling. the house was built in the 50s and the kitchen roof and most rooms for that matter are artex’d. I’ve not had it tested but I’m worried as the initial leak was years ago and the...
Hi
I am a new flat owner and am wondering if these cracks in my wall are anything to worry about. I will try to explain the setup in the pictures.
I live in a flat in a large old Edwardian building, my flat is on the ground floor but has a needed extension where the sitting room is. The bottom...
Hi All
looking for a little guidance. We are going round our house making rooms good before we sell shortly however I have hit a snag with my sons room.
the room was part of an extension built before we moved in and has always had small cracks in the apex lines where walls meet the ceiling...
Hi there,
Just wanted some advice. From googling lots, I think the cracks we have in the ceiling above our stairs/landing are just the plasterboard joints? If anyone can confirm this and am I right in thinking I use joint tape and plaster to fix them?
Wondering if there’s any one around for some advice over the ceiling, I’m overthinking it and getting paranoid the ceiling is falling in...
Living in a private rental, I think built late 80s / early 90s. The house is honestly covered in hairline cracks across every room where the walls meet...
There is a hairline crack along my bedroom ceiling. The ceiling is textured. It's in a straight line so I assume may run along a plasterboard above or some such. Its been here since I moved in 4 years ago and hasn't got any worse. I'd now like to redecorate the ceiling and room. I would like to...
Hi,
I have lots of cracks in the ceiling edge that run above our kitchen window. Have previously tried to fill them in with polyfilla but they always crack again. Any recommendations for how to repair?
Will need to be able to paint over as both the ceiling and walls will need painted.
