Hi all,
We are getting penetrating rain coming in through our gable wall. The gable is made of block work added for a hip to gable loft extension, with a very thin concrete render over the top.
There is some cracking visible as seen in the photo.
We are thinking of the following solution:

Hi,
I've had all the gutters and downpipes to the main house replaced - previously plastic/cast iron mix.
The new gutters are 5" seamless aluminium in a Victorian style and downpipes 68mm cast aluminium.
The upper part of the side gable was previously a rotten wooden gutter with fall to the...
Hello

We are having this done by a contractor

Im hoping someone can help me - I am planning to clad my gable end with cedar cladding - currently it is mock tudor - I will remove the black wood detail and inspect the white sheathing/boards - I am hoping these are ok to batten onto and then clad - my question is whether I need to membrane...
I have to convert my roof from hip to gable and builder advise to make the wall in timber instead of block work as this would be lighter and avoid issue of sticking the insulated plasterboard on the internal side which is very expensive.
I came across this detail which was discussed many years...
So I’m doing a loft conversion and extension on my 2 bed bungalow, the building regs notes asks for “fire resistant cavity barriers to be installed at tops of wall and gable end walls”

Hi. I have installed a few intruder alarms over the years and I have just been asked to install one for someone at a new-build bungalow, which is ground-floor only.
I now have a decision to make. I can either install the bell box at ceiling height, under the eaves, at the front of the property...
I might be about to buy a semi with a hipped roof. To make this house work for me I need another double bedroom, but the location and garden are just perfect, and the asking price leaves me with some money to spend on alterations.
Is a loft conversion possible with a 1970s-ish hipped roof? I’m...
Hi all,
We are having plans drawn up for a ground floor extension. We are going to go with bifold doors on the family area, but are in two minds whether to go with a small glazed gable roof above above the bi-fold doors, so I was looking for a second opinion on potential costs and added value...
