stucco

I have been getting wood lice in my house. I appreciate they are harmless and do not cause damage to house. I noticed a gap between the stucco and the bricks at the bottom of the house - this could be a potential entry point for insects. Should there be a gap? If not, what should I fill it up...

As if water rot and roof rafters wasn't enough, stucco is also involved. This may be beyond my skill level to repair. What's the best way to take care of this? These particular rafters don't have attic space, but are the rafters underneath a section of flat roof with roll roofing. In some cases...
