tiling floors

There are many threads on this topic already, I know, but I am trying to get it clear in my mind before I waste time and money. We have 22mm (3/4"?) wooden floorboards in the bathroom which we plan to tile with 600mm by 600mm tiles. The boards are sound, but have the usual irregularities...
