unvented hot water cylinder

I have a Heatrae Sadia premier plus PP250B unvented hot water cylinder and a Vaillant ecoTec plus 618 system boiler. I want to adjust the temperature of the hot water cylinder to save a bit of money, but the controls appear to have no effect. I want to set the temperature to around 50/55ish...
