Is it cost economic to use a EV Car Battery or external for home supply outage, use a backup generator or Solar PV.
To cover a standing load of 0.5kw and cooking Maximum demand of 3kw it seems a small generator or 15Kwh battery might suffice.
What would people suggest as there is no money any...
So my Granddad (who is in hid mid 80's) has had a UPS on his router for a number of years as he lives in a rural area and gets lots of power cuts and power dips. The UPS was 10-11 years old and had started to become unreliable, so I ordered him a new one.

I moved my NAS box from my kitchen to above my hallway data cabinet, and when I plugged the USB cable in between my NAS and the UPS, it shorted out all the 5v USB ports on my NAS.
Unplug and re-plug the USB cable on the UPS end, same thing...

I need to get two new 7ah 12V Lead Acid batteries for my 1000va Belkin UPS as they are shot after 3.5 years of use.
They clearly need replacing as the UPS just shuts of immediately on power loss and the batteries are very hot and slightly swollen out. Ones even resting around 6V. They are...
