Our 1960's bungalow has an old fashioned hipped roof with a flat roofed garage to one side and a conservatory to the other side. We intend to modernise by removing the conservatory, building up the side walls and then extending the roof to both sides over the garage and the newly built walls. There appears to be 2 approaches and both would achieve this:

1. Extend the hipped roof to both sides. The garage and the conservatory are around the same width so symmetry is maintained. The longer hipped roof would be more pleasing aesthetically.
2. Remove the roof and replace with simple fink trusses across the total bungalow including the sides.

We do not require space in the roof which is only used for occasional storage. Garyo published plans to extend the hipped ends and this looks cheaper for materials and possibly less labour too?

Any suggestions or advice please?
