I had 2 x 2 way light switches, controlling a ceiling light in one room. I decided to tackle a straightforward job and move one from the middle of the wall, to the corner.
When taking the old switch out I found some old wires. Basically 2 feeds, one from the consumer unit and one from the main light switch. Cable 1 was red, black and earth. Cable 2 was blue, red and yellow. After a lot of digging i found out it was 3 phase wiring and completely failed to grasp the various explanations of how it works. Photo 1 shows my cowboy attempt to extend the wiring using twin and earth instead of 3 core and earth. I did amazingly manage to get the lights to work but not 2-way.
I now have some 3 core and earth and photo 2 shows another (temporary!!) cowboy attempt at joining the 3 core with the twin (probably dangerous, stupid etc) to get the switches working independently. Photo 3 shows the other light switch across the room.
I want both switches to operate independently again, but do not want to rip out my freshly fixed channel that was dug across the wall to replace the twin and earth with 3 core and earth. Does anybody know a way to wire these switches for 2 way independent switching, but keep the twin and earth feed?
