Been in the current house for 20ish years and finally started on some much needed renovations. When we moved in the chimney stack was already removed on the ground floor kitchen but is still in place in the upstairs bathroom and loft ( Victorian terrace). Started pulling up the floorboards to move the shower and looks like there's naff all support. Where does that leave me on building control? I'd like to improve things but if I make changes am I then stuffed given I'm not removing anything. Just what counts as a structural change when your trying to fix something I'm pretty sure was done in the late 80s early 90s

Not the best picture but the lighter area is the chimney. The darker area was an airing cupboard at some point. Want to put a shower in that corner but I'm concerned those steel pipes in the wall they put in are to supposedly tie the walls together and stop the chimney pulling forwards
