240 AC Volt USA Electric Motor.

A 240 volt electric motor fitted to a machine of American origin, has four connecting wires including the Earth connection, the others are, a red marked L2, a Black marked L1 and a white marked N, could one assume that this is a two phase motor ?
 
Why are you posting this here when you have a long thread about this same motor in electrics UK?

TO REPEAT. It is NOT a two phase motor, it is a single phase 240v motor.

To use here connect red and black L1 and L2 to the mains. DO NOT CONNECT THE NEUTRAL (WHITE). Connect the earth of course.

LOL you'r not allowed to ask a question on more than one forum. At least according the shouty nasty people on this forum. And believe me there are a lot of shouty nasty people on this forum.
