9800 re-setup - PIR problems

I've reconfigured this old Scantronics 9800 system following a system reset, having been unused for a few years.

On a walk test - 3 of the PIRs illuminate OK ... but they don't set off the sounder.
These 3 circuits are setup as AL (normal alarm).

The 4th PIR works fine - this is setup as an Entry Route.
The door contacts and panic buttons also work OK.

All PIRs are original from 1990 (Pyronix Magnums, I believe).

Could I have missed something on the setup or might the PIRs just be past their use-by date?! (All 4 of them are a bit sluggish and hit-and-miss at lighting up, also staying lit for a couple of minutes after I've left the room).

Put a multimeter on the alarm relay terminals on the PIRs to ensure the relay is opening & closing. Check voltage is between 12-13v & check that no + voltage is on the alarm loop. Make sure your alarm & tamper loops are wired in correctly. Simulate a open circuit in the panel by removing the alarm loop wires & see if it trips in walk test. Tbh new PIRs are very cheap & look better too i would change them to reduce the chance of any false alarms.

For my info, what PIR would you recommend? A pet friendly one, would be good (that's why we stopped using it for a while).
What would be a reasonable ballpark cost for replacing 4 PIRs (Reading, Berkshire area).
(I appreciate, with such an old system, costs might then escalate!)

Also depends where the pirs are sited?
Not good looking at stairs and near worktops / tables etc for pet sensors
 
Cats for now but possibly a dog sometime.

Yes, one PIR is at bottom of stairs and catches anything in hallway..or going up/down stairs. Another is on the landing at top of stairs.

The PIR would need to be clever enough to ignore certain body masses, even if they came in range - on chairs table-tops etc.
 
Bosch Tritec or Texecom PW detectors are very good, prices available online. Labour variable!

They work on body heat mass, i think usually between 15kg & 40kg specs differ from detector to detector.

Now to find a trusty professional. Any recommended specialist websites?...or is it a case of Checkatrade etc?
 
Nsi or Ssaib registered installers are all insurance approved. Look on website for installer in your area.
