Adobe Acrobat Reader

Yesterday, I downloaded an Acrobat Reader update. It turns out that version was Acrobat Reader DC.
Today, I tried to read a document that I have on file and found this new version far more difficult to use, particularly when I wanted to zoom in to a page. I'm sure it comes with all sorts of new bells and whistles, but nothing that I want. I just need to read PDF documents.
Anyway, I removed the offending article and searched for a download of the previous version, which wasn't too easy as all they seem to want me to have is DC. Found one (American version) eventually.

You live and learn, but why do these people keep doing that. 'Updating' a perfectly good programme when it's not needed?
I would recommend not downloading DC, although that's just my opinion of course.

MS did the same with Windows 7 and 8.

Haven't used Acrobat for years now. I was so tired of it taking half an hour to load, and the endless updates, that I found this

and have used it since.
Opens more or less instantly, it's not "bloatware" and you can update it when you need to.
There are lots of other options out there.

Thank you. I've bookmarked that and if Adobe Reader XI ever fails to load, or if the 'upgrade' ever becomes compulsory, I'll download that software.

I run it ok - have quite a quick machine, but who knows what real effect this has ? - Do not run away from change, it happens and there will be more of it and quicker than we could imagine - You have to fight to stay in the game, do not give up at the presentation of an upslope with new stuff. Yes, it may be not seem quite right, but it will evolve, and we/you must not allow ourselves to end up so far off the pace that progress is eventually almost impossible.

You gotta 'giver' - Maybe, like, never before...
