Hi All

Just been to look at a friends rear door as they said it was not working and they have removed handle and bar.

They have been ‘turning’ the inside square of the mech with a screwdriver/pliers and have rounded it slightly now.

I asked for the handle/bar and was amazed at how small the bar was!!

I have messed about with windows and doors for years and was amazed at how thin/small the bar was?

It is very loose in the mech as can be seen in pic and I’m sure it is not the correct size despite being fitted for years. You can clearly see the gap there!!

I can turn the mech freely with a large screwdriver and it works fine (there are only 2 round rollers that move plus the lock mech).

Am I correct here?
I’m sure u have spare bars somewhere that are bigger!

Anyone advise please.

Pics below (plus I have more).

Thanks.

Ps. It’s also needs to be lifted on the RHS but I just want the mech sorted first.

Little update.

I have just found a spare bar as I have loads and compared it and it is definitely bigger. But only slightly

Current one that is spinning in mechanism is -6.9mm
My spare ones that feel/look correct size -7.9mm.

Used a cheap gauge.

It does not fit in existing the door handles as well.

But no way a will 1mm bigger bar fill the current hole in the mech!

I’ll try it tomorrow but looks like I will end up needing a new whole mechanism.

Thanks.
