Advice on wiring Nest Thermostat E to Alpha Eco Combi Boiler

Hi, I.m looking to add a Nest Thermostat E to my Alpha Eco Boiler.

The boiler has no room stat but just a timer.

My understanding is that I should leave the timer in and set it to always on. I should then remove the link connecting 1 and 2 and run instead two wires from 1 to NO/Call for heat and 2 to Common in The Nest E Heatlink.

Is this correct? I've attached images showing the wiring diagram and how the boiler is currently wired. Thanks very much.

Yep, pretty much it. Just be certain that removing the cover isn’t part of the combustion circuit, otherwise it’ll need checking for safety by a gas safe registered engineer.

Thanks. How do I know that? The main cover of the boiler stays on and just the electrical part folds down currently.

Not a legal requirement. He can check it himself if he is competent.

Yes it is, if he’s not competent, given the above statement, I’d say he isn’t.

If the electrics are separate, then that’s fine. You only know by looking in the boiler instructions, but as I said, if the electrics are separate, then your fine.

Gas law does exist, it’s not a claim, and working on an appliance is included in that law: Gas safety installation and use regulations 1998 all the information is in there.

Can you prove to me that the law doesn’t exist or even prove he is legally allowed to work on a gas appliance?
