I have had a gree air conditioner split unit fitted downstairs and the electrics were taken from a wall socket.
Must there be an indoor spur socket between the wall socket and the electrical feed to the unit, because the upstairs unit has one fitted.
He told me there is an isolated switch on the external unit and isn't necessary.
Am I fussing about nothing

I don't understand that.

Do you mean that if it goes wrong and you need to cut power, you have to go outside, fetch your ladder, and climb up to the outside unit?

Does this thing have a plug on it?

UK plugs contain fuses.

If there is no plug and no FCU, the appliance is unfused, and is protected only by the MCB in the circuit, usually 32A, which is not correct.

It is usual for appliances in the UK to come with instructions that say "this appliance must be fused...."

Many thanks for your comment but not being a air con engineer or electrician I needed to be sure of my facts before chasing him up or getting another engineer to put it right
