Hi all, hope everyone’s well.

I’ve got a few little projects on the horizon, nothing too sizeable, but workmanship and timescale would definitely improve with use of a few power tools I don’t currently own, like a router and track saw.
I can’t justify spending a lot as I won’t have regular use for use, so I’m looking for alternative brands that produce a wide range of tools for a fraction of the price in comparison to the major competitors.

I currently own various Milwaukee M18 and M12 tools and lamps, so better yet if there’s a cheap Milwaukee alternative that is compatible with M18 or M12 batteries, I’d love to know.

Anything similar to the Katsu tools that are compatible with Makita?

For infrequent use, mains powered is probably a better bet, keep watching lidl and aldi if you're not in a rush. I bought a lidl router for £30 quite a few years ago, and it's fine for diy use.

Which end of your DIY career are you? If at the beginning, buy the best tools, because they'll last and you'll forget the price quickly, but appreciate the quality for a very long time. However, if it really is a one-off, then yes, the budget brands can be very serviceable
