I'm looking to build a deck in the back garden at the end of July. With everything that has been going on I'm looking to get the timbers and joist hangers etc. ordered up, ready for me to start over my summer holiday.
I've made a plan of how I think it should be put together, but unsure of the joists. I've noticed the max span of a 47x150 C16 joist is 3.06 at 400mm centres, I'll be putting mine at 300mm as per the manufacturers spec. of the composite decking.
Would over lapping the joists(100mm over the beam) and bolting them together be ok? Or does the beam have to come up level and attach the joists with joist hangers to the beam?
Not really found anything definite online.
Thank you for any help.
