So, as is always the way one job leads to another and I find myself delving into the eave void behind the dwarf wall in our attic. It's a three story Victorian house which was built with a room in roof, it's not a conversion.
The question. There is a healthy amount of ventilation in the eaves area (i.e. a howling gale) and it's happily running up behind the plasterboard attached to the rafters of the sloped attic ceiling. I'm fairly confident this is all good and aware it needs maintaining (i.e. I won't stuff Rockwool in those gaps). But - the orientation of the joists supporting the attic floor means vented air is also going straight under them - and hence straight over the ceiling of the room below. Am I OK to block up the gaps between the joists at the ends? - I'm going to pop some loft roll into the eaves area (being mindful not to block the good ventilation) so can easily block the end of the joists.
