"Long Covid may be no different from other post-viral syndromes such as those experienced after flu, according to new research from Queensland Health.

The lead author of the study, the state’s chief health officer Dr John Gerrard, said it was “time to stop using terms like ‘long Covid’” because they imply there is something unique about the longer-term symptoms associated with the virus, and in some cases create hypervigilance"

Linky Linky

“We believe it is time to stop using terms like ‘long Covid’. They wrongly imply there is something unique and exceptional about longer-term symptoms associated with this virus. This terminology can cause unnecessary fear, and in some cases, hypervigilance to longer symptoms that can impede recovery.”

"What we are saying is that the incidence of these symptoms is no greater in Covid-19 than it is with other respiratory viruses, and that to use this term ‘long Covid’ is misleading and I believe harmful.”

For 'hypervigilence' read (self) induced mass paranoia ;)

post-viral syndromes
Post viral syndromes can be extremely debilitating

Ellal, you need to go and talk to some people suffering long covid, you can tell them how it’s all in their mind
Do come back and and tell us how you got on :ROFLMAO:

Ellal, it’s not another myth busted, it’s just you posting bolox

The worst flu’s seem to be as bad, certainly the one doing the rounds now. Not quite the rampant transmissibility thougn.

Poor Ellal, can’t even read his own link

Ellal, it’s not scientific research - it’s merely observational with no scientific assessment of patients.

It’s not scientific at all

Ellals claim has been debunked in 3 minutes flat

From your own article:

“Prof Jeremy Nicholson, the director of the Australian National Phenome Centre at Murdoch University, said the question of whether long Covid is unique “cannot be simply answered in this work”.

“The study is observational, based on reported symptoms with no physiological or detailed functional follow-up data. Without laboratory pathophysiological assessment of individual patients, it is impossible to say that this is indistinguishable from flu-related or any other post-viral syndrome,” Nicholson said.”

Oh dear another anti vaxxer nonsense destroyed

They are not saying it isn't a thing or doesn't happen if you read it properly

Why has Ellal put ‘virus’ in inverted commas?

He refuses to say whether the virus is real or not

It proves he is a conspiracy theorist

PMSL...

I've said countless times the 'virus' exists...

Sadly you are a s hit scared conspiracy theorist to claim otherwise!

But hey, since you are so 'clued up', could you tell us why this research (and it is research!) goes against the anecdotal 'evidence' of supposed 'long covid'?

Oh, I have to apologise...

Apparently there was more than anecdotal evidence helping to spread to the myth of 'long covid'...

Sadly that so called 'research' has also been debunked...

Flawed body of research indicates true ‘long COVID’ risk likely exaggerated

"Overly broad definitions and lack of comparator groups have distorted risk, say researchers
Leading to increased public anxiety and healthcare spend; misdiagnoses; diversion of funds

Major flaws in the current body of published research on ‘long COVID’ have likely greatly exaggerated the true risks of developing the condition, suggests an analysis published in BMJ Evidence Based Medicine.

Overly broad definitions, a lack of appropriate, or any, comparison groups, among other things, in studies looking at the incidence, prevalence, and control of the condition—epidemiology—have distorted the risks, say the researchers.

This is further compounded by inclusion of poorly conducted studies into systematic reviews and pooled data analyses that end up overstating the risk yet again, they add"

Are the BMJ also 'conspiracy theorists'?

His obsession is driving him nuts. Poor Ellal...

Oh dear...

I think you'll find it's those who cling to what they have been told when the evidence is mounting against that blind obedience who are the obsessed ones...

But then you can of course show us documented research that proves 'long covid' exists in a worse way than after any other respiratory disease, can't you?

Have you ever thought that you may have got it wrong?

why do you put 'virus' in inverted commas

The use of inverted commas in that context is to show scepticism

so either:

1) admit you dont believe the virus is real

or

2) stop using inverted commas
