Hi, the underneath edge of my worktop is chipping away as they do after some tine.

I wondered if theres something I can do to prevent it crumbling for a while ?

I thought obviously paint it or maybe a small 90 degree trim of some sort ?

any ideas please ?

Sounds like damp has crept in and the chip has swollen with time.

You could seal it with a varnish, but it sounds like it's nearing time for replacement.

Wood hardener will stabilise it. Because it is a polyurethane based material wood hardener is activated by the moisture in the chipboard, converting it into a plasticised wood fibre where it is still wet.

Bonda Wood Hardener. Available from many builders merchants. I've used it on Church of England projects in the past
