Telegram is becoming my favourite software for keeping intouch with people and the ability to send people video and files upto 2GB is very useful and just last week they added voice chatrooms. And with desktop and smart phone apps it works on multiple devices at once, unlike WhatsApp.

Anyone else use it? It's a much more capable alternative to WhatsApp for most things.

Whatsapp has a desktop version too, but unlike telegrams desktop app it is end to end encrypted.

Well I can tell you for sure WhatsApp is practising censorship of videos it doesn't want people to share - several videos I try to share from Telegram to WhatsApp throw up "Can't upload this video error messages" - but alter the video in a tiny way such as by changing the colours, etc and it uploads just fine.

This page talks about WhatsApp End to End encryption

And also the fact WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and they can keep hold of your MetaData and cross-reference it with Facebook Data

Also one huge advantage of Telegram vs WhatsApp is that you can keep your phone number totally hidden - this is especially useful in groups
And you have a lot of control of SPAM in the groups as the Admin - I am Admin on several WhatsApp and Telegram Groups - Telegram is so much better for groups

I've not tried Telegram although I don't like that Whatsapp is tied to my mobile number which makes it very difficult to separate work/personal stuff. I'm hearing a lot of people talking about Signal app on social media at the moment.
