Hello. I need to buy 20w/50 monograde oil. Only need a small bottle but when googling it I haven't seen anything described as monograde. Seen something close like the one in the picture but don't know enough about oil. It's for a whacker plate (compactor). But I thought you on here would know best.
Cheers

The only thing I would say years ago with 2 stoke motor bikes I remember should not use a detergent oil as you would need more of it to get lubrication required, so a straight oil was 50 to 1 but oil with additives was 25 to 1, but at that time syntactic oil was unheard of, we had mineral oil or Castrol R which was a racing vegetable oil, and we would put some brake fluid in the tank so it smelt like Castrol R was being used.

A whacker plate will not be designed to need a high quality oil.

The key feature of synthetic is its long life between changes.

A cheap 20w/50 as sold for old cars is all you need.

I still have Duckhams in my red Wesco

Modern cars use thinner oils. What grade do you have in your boot or garage?

Edit
Wilko used to sell it as their cheapest oil, but seem to have discontinued it. Not enough old cars around I suppose.
