So every 4 years or so the mixing valve on our PowerMax 185 gives up and the only way to get a hot bath is to run the tap at a trickle. I've replaced it 3 times so far over the 17 years the boiler has been fitted, resolving the issue each time, and I've just bought the next one as the problem is back.
I've always replaced the valve with the P757 valve from BAXI at around £100 each time (got the latest one for £45 from EBAY). I've noticed other valves can be considerably cheaper (https://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/product/saracen-tmv-22mm-2in1-tmv2-3/) and I'm sure could be made to fit with a bit of pipe fettling. Is one mixer valve the same as another or should I stick with the BAXI?
Also, this time I'm gong to soak the old valve to see if I can remove the limescale and reuse? Any reason I shouldn't do this?
Thanks,
Ian
