Are my heaters storage heaters..???

Hi,

I just moved into a new property which does not have gas and heating is via wall mounted electric heaters. The property has an economy 7 meter and at the moment on an economy 7 tariff plan. What I do not know is if the heaters I have are storage heaters or not? I cannot seem to find any output or input buttons on the heaters (as many posts suggests storage heaters may have that). I have off peak and on peak switches next to my boiler as well. Any idea how the heating might be working...??? I've attached pictures

I would hazard a guess the whole property switches over to E7 electricity between 01.00 and 08.00 hrs. Therefore the heater have time settings to switch them 'on' to charge up overnight during the off peak window. Immersion has an 'off peak' element that heats the whole tank overnight, and an 'on peak' setting to heat the top half of the tank during the day if extra hot water is needed.

Really need the instructions for those heaters...
 
Fairly sure those are not storage heaters and will be running on whatever the electricity rate is at the time they're switched on.

makes me wonder if it would be beneficial to get them replaced with a storage heaters?? any idea how much a storage heater would cost?? and would I have to pay for the installation as well?? could the ones in use be sold at a reduced price??
im just wondering if it would be economical over a few years

I'm pretty sure they are storage heaters.

Apart from the fact that they look like it, it would be crazy to build a flat with E7 if you weren't installing them.

You should make contact with the person who built the flat, or sold it to you.
 
If wonder if those two switches marked "off peak" and "on peak" are not some crude way of enabling the heating to be switched from the E7 only circuit to a normal 24H circuit so that they can be used during peak times if needed?

Could we have a shot of the consumer units, etc?

You mean the heaters?? Ive added some in the initial post
 
No. By consumer units he means what you probably call the fuse boards

very much doubt that those switches have anything to do with the panel heaters.. Its more likely to be the switches for a hot water tank that has two elements.

10 years is not very old. As has been said, it would seem very odd for an E7 supply/tariff to have been installed (and to persist) unless there were ('originally') storage heaters installed. It would therefore seem fairly likely that there were originally storage heaters, but the previous owner had them changed to panel heaters at some point, but overlooked the desirability to get off the E7 tariff at the time.
