How many times have you fallen ill, after eating there ?

This is what I say, when one of our party says (about a place we're talking about going to) “they've got a one star food hygiene rating! "

There is a Kebab shop in South Ealing that has one star- the owner is so stupid that he displays the one star food hygiene rating in his window.

Believe it or not, I was as skinny as a rake in those days. 30 years younger and a smoker. When I stopped smoking 20 years ago, the weight started piling on.

Yeah, I am 5'11.5".

For most of my adult life I was 10.5 stone. Since giving up smoking I have gained about half a stone.

That might be down to the fact that I sit in the pub and don't go outside for a fag. That said, now that I am addicted to nicotine gum and now consume nicotine by a factor of 10 (?) times more.

Nicotine is a very effective dietary suppressant.

Same height but I was always around the 12/13 stone mark. After 20 odd years of not smoking, I’m now tipping the scales at just over 17 stone. It’s much harder to lose weight when you're older plus I’ve been working mostly with my brain for the last 20 years and not my body!

I’m 6.2 and about 15 stone now. I look like a crack head apparently when I’m thin.

You’ve done well to stay at about the same weight.

Height 5 feet 11"...............Weight 238lb

"BMI: 33.5 (Obese)

This BMI is considered obese. People with obesity have increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and other health conditions. Waist-to-hip ratio, waist-to-height ratio, and body fat percentage measurements can provide a more complete picture of any health risks. A person should consult with their healthcare provider and consider making lifestyle changes through healthy eating and fitness to improve their health indicators.

For this height, a weight range of 132.6–178.5 lb is a normal BMI."

You certainly didn't look that weight when racing down that street with a scaffold pole in your hand...

Or on that bike of yours...

Are you sure you are posting this under the correct username? ;)

That BMI stuff can be misleading, a bloke I know is a 21st bodybuilder and he has hardly any fat on him, yet the BMI guidelines would assume he's obese based on his bodyweight, same for rugby players etc.

Yep: although I was probably too young for it to be measured, I was probably fine before I took up weights.

Went from 10st, to 14st, in two years. No fat.

Technically though, obese.
