Asbestos Corrugated Roof Sheeting

Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with detoriating garage asbestos corrugated roof sheeting.
My dads neighbours garage is within touching distanc of his rear house door.
When we look out of his upstairs windows we can see the sheeting is cracked all over and covered in moss. It has been installedsince the houses were built in 1972.
The sheets are the thicker sheets and there are 9 of them in total. We have spoken to the neighbour and they said it will be right, nothing to worry about. The environmental health said as its not a commercial property then they are unwilling to assist so this is a no go
The question my dad asks (he is 65 but not on the internet) do a lot of people come across detoriating garage asbestos corrugated roof sheeting and is it dangerous to his health amd what is the avarage lifespan of garage asbestos corrugated roof sheeting.

It isn't considered dangerous so long as you don't disturb it or cause to generate dust by doing somethink like cutting it, drilling it, etc. No idea how long it will last, though - there are so many variables that it would take a first hand inspection to determine the state of the material and assess how degraded it has become

There are plenty of ww2 era buildings with the same roof still about.
no danger now, unless you remove it.

You should wear a face fitted P3 mask whilst removing it and the asbestos containing material must be thoroughly damped down with water before and whilst removing it as asbestos fibres are highly unlikely to become airborne when wet. Once removed it should be double bagged and disposed of safely (this is a legal requirement, even for householders) - councils are legally obliged to provide a safe removal service to an authorised disposal point (generally a registered and controlled land fill site) to domestic properties in their area and will supply the required bags, marked something like "Asbestos Waste - Hazardous", at a standard fee, although for larger quantities such as an entire garage it can be cheaper to hire a specialist skip designed to carry asbestos. Skips used for asbestos waste have a closed/closeable top and are lockable with a padlock
