Hi all, I hope you're well!

Looking at getting this router and intending on using it with a VPN. I am trying to work out if it get be set up so that specific devices on the network run through WAN rather than the VPN.

I tried the Asus site and manual but the only information there seems to be related to setting up VPN server rather than client.

Does anyone have any experience with this router (or a router with the ASUSWRT firmware) that might be able to clarify this?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey, you want a VPN on your own private network or want to set one up to a device out on the internet?

I have the AC86U, great bit of kit :)

To use the VPN on the home network. Currently have it in individual devices but was hoping to be able to is the routers VPN client ability so that in don't need to sign in on each devices when at home.

However there are a couple of devices I would like to bypass the VPN.

I may not be explaining my self clearly.

Currently, when I use the vpn (on phone, laptop etc) I log in and the device uses the VPN connection. I am looking to use the router as the VPN client so that I don't need to sign in on individual devices while at home.

99% sure I can do this...

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can do this with that router. Here's a screenshot of the RT-N66U vpn admin panel, albeit running with the AsusWRT-Merlin firmware. Note the traffic routing rules at the bottom - the source IP dropdown lets you quickly select any devices currently connected to the network.
