At last, 'new build' quality improves ...

I refuse to work in any property built past 1990.
Even for friends and family.
You start with a simple job and you end up spending a week fixing stuff.
That silicone around the pan is the best example.
Remove it to do a better job= 15 minutes.
Then realise toilet is not fixed.
It also leaks from the waste and it takes 20 minutes for the cistern to fill due to kinked pipes.
Strip everything and start again.
Until you find that the pan is cracked...
Off to the shops again...

No ..... no one would. So why do these building companies get away with employing low skilled cheap labour like they do?

I don't fancy anything younger than 1968.
Having said that, there's a few structural issues with my gaff and that was thrown together in 1960.
Apparently the purlins are horribly undersized, but the whole estate is like that. I can't be the only owner with the problem, which is a spreading roof.

Love this guys videos. I like how he measures tolerances in wagon wheels and custard creams.
Whenever I get a bit worn down from the ongoing project I've set myself with our solid but tired 1950s house then I watch a couple of this bloke's videos for motivation.
His business is making snagging videos for the no doubt traumatised people who've just paid many £100,000s of borrowed money for these things, I guess his voiceover is far more serious on the videos that are presented to his clients, the builders and probably the courts. Housebuilding is a scam industry these days.

I think the only thing they get right is the insulation.
