Struggling up here, I'm trying to attach a light to an exterior wall that has a rendered surface (a 'Harled wall' ) the back of the light is a flat surface but the wall surface is like the Himalayas (relatively). I don't want to bash away at the render so is there anything that can close the gap between the wall surface and the light (or a board if I attach that between the two)?

Kind of imagining a rubber gasket type thing to seal between the two????

Apologies for the clear lack of knowledge here from a diy'r....

No real need to seal the gap the light should be waterproof, I would use some spacers on the screws, rubber tap washers or screw caps with the cover snapped off are my usual "mini spacers" for all sorts of jobs

You could use foam window/door seal and then use that to hold silicon to seal.

Foam can be a bit messy!
