Hello i am replacing my garage door with a door and window. Going to do the foundation first...

As for the bricking, how do i attach the brick work to the top of the main garage opening. it is a 9-inch wood lintel. i don't want to replace this lintel just yet.
From experience, I am aware of using a BPC Wall brace for attaching a brick wall to an existing wall… but i am unsure about vertically?

See picture.

Why bother with masonry at all, could jut do a timber frame wall. But if you insist it needs to be wide enough to be robust enough to avoid falling apart as the door is slammed, you would use 'masonry head restraints' from the likes of Ancon but as you'd only need a few you might have to buy a box of ten or something. BTW be careful if you look on ebay for 'masonry head restraints' it brings up all manner of items! :p

brilliant thanks. How many do i need, it will just be holding that column..

Use a couple of wall plate straps, drill a hole in mortar above lintel and slide the strap in and screw it to new blockwork.
