Many of you have helped me in the past as I am really a silver surfer PC illiterate!

Basically my new HP laptop keeps telling me I need to back up the system(?). With my new laptop, allied to my first Grandson, the number of photos, docs etc has increased dramatically.

The pub experts keep telling me to buy a flashdrive memory stick to do it. I go on the websites to buy one and find they are all different from 1GB to 64GB.

Basically what size do I need, to coin a phrase does size make a difference, how do I calculate the size.

Any other tips on how to back up the whole computer, is that what I have to do?

Many thanks in anticipation as usual.

If you have a dvd burner then a dvd can be used to back up every 6 months or so, if it's a dual layer you can get over 8gb on it which should be more then enough.Memory stick is ok but if it fails [and they do] you have lost everything.

I would consider getting an external hard drive. You can pick up a good 500GB hard drive for around £50. This should be more than enough. It's a lot simpler than dvd's.
