Hello guys!

Just to start, this is not a ‘sob storey’! Yes I had an a terrible bone infection that started a couple of years ago out of nowhere and was very very aggressive. I have now recently found out it’s permanent and in a way it has helped me move forward as being stuck in status not knowing was tough.

Now I am being practical and wanting to make my home feel as safe and comfortable as possible with this new challenge. I am focused on my bathroom (which has been started by taking the bath out and Turing into a wet room).

What I need help with is choosing the correct enclosure and increasing the pressure of the shower. If anyone on here could help or support me in finding the best way to go about this part of the job as it is tough and would be good to get it finished.

I will attach photos and measurements if I can find someone to help with that so everyone can see what we’re working with and what enclosures would work...

I’m trying not to focus on the negatives like loosing my bath. I need to look forward to the shower enclosure as without one the wet room is a disaster and quite dangerous not to mind stressful!

I’m sorry if I’ve posted on the wrong bit but anyone that could help guide me through this would be really helping me as this is just another thing that’s overwhelming me.

Thanks

Yasmine

I have found a few enclosures that I like but I don’t know if they would fit so what would be so so life changingly to me is if anyone could help me check that it would fit would be such a great start.

it’s impacting my life so much as so much has been taken away from me and I’m trying to stay positive but I don’t want my independence taken and I want a space I’m comfortable in, is a calming place to get clean (my bathroom was my chill out room. Shut the doors, light the candles and have a warm bath soak my troubles away). At the moment it’s an awful place to be in as everything has to be moved out as the room gets so wet and is just awful).

Being able to find a nice enclosure with a better shower will make all the difference as I can close the doors to the enclosure, have a lovely warm shower keeping everything else in the room dry not having to move anything out!

I can put up photos of what I have and what I want if that helps and maybe I won’t feel so alone and overwhelmed.

Stay positive!
Many of us here have permanent conditions and accepting it is the big massive first step to get your life back.

Put photos here so we can have a look at what's there and find solutions.
Measurements would also be good, even rough ones to start with.
Have you got someone helping you with this project or are you going solo?

The correct enclosure is dependent on how debilitating your condition is, and if it’s likely to stay the same or worsen. A lot of wet rooms are just that, as in no enclosure, just a hanging weighted curtain. Some you can get half height doors. There are companies who specialise in this sort of work as well.

Things to consider to provide:
  • Type of hot and cold water distribution (eg, gravity, mains, combined? Like a cylinder or combi boiler) - this is for your type of shower you want.
  • Type of property and floor types (eg solid, timber etc)
  • Photo and or drawing of existing layout
  • Are you upgrading the toilet and wash basin, or keeping existing?
