Battery screwdriver power loss

I got a Parkside Cordless Screwdriver a while back for use around the house. Of late, when taking door hinge screws out, there seems to be a complete sudden power loss when its under load. If I wait a second, it'll start again with a press of the trigger but immediately dies again.

I've had it to bits but can't see any bad connections.
Do these products have over-torque cut out?
Is a new battery worth a punt?

It has a 3.7m li-ion battery. 18mm x 65mm

It's probably got a lithium battery in it that has reached the end of it's life. That happens when a lithium goes flat and needs charging. I am assuming that you have tried to charge that and it isn't holding a charge. If you can get a new battery, not likely, then that should sort it. But even if you can get a new battery it will probably be not a lot less than a new screwdriver.
 
its exactly as lithium tools work they run until say 5% stored energy left
as batteries age the overall capacity will reduce and eventually to perhaps as low as 15% in your instance
now the reason it stops is with the motor in circuit and a heavy load it drops the voltage making the battery protection think its fallen to 5% but at rest and re-operating the switch it starts at the say 15% again and will turn with no load until it reaches the lower limit or under load drags the voltage down again
 
Its less than a year old from Lidl but clever me lost the receipt so can't return it.

I suspect that its a defective battery. The power stalling happens even when fresh of the charger.

I've seen a Bosch brand battery of the same spec and size although the Ah is higher so better.

wait till the next time its in stock and providing its the same give it a few months to make sure all are sold then take the duff one back
 
If you paid by card, and can trace it on that - they can back track to the receipt.
Sure that's the theory but if you ever try that in a shop you'll see what blank stare's you get. They might look into it but knowing Lidl I reckon they'd probably just give you a refund or another one if they happen to still be selling them.

I did exactly that when a blender failed, the week after purchase. I emailed Lidl's head office, was able to provide the date of purchase and the last four digits of the card used, from which they were able to trace the receipt. They then just sent a replacement complete unit out, no need to return the faulty unit.

Probably no different from the model that is on sale today; buy another one and return the knackered one using the receipt from the new one..

..or given that Lidl tend to sell bodies, batteries and chargers separately, see can you get a new battery that fits

i forgot to say buy another one then as above wait till out off stock so you have a" fAULTY ITEM AND A RECEIPT" sorry about the caps fat fingers
