Hi. Wonder if anybody can help with this please?

We have a baumatic p632ss single oven. It seems that when it hits the temperature set on the dial, it trips the RCD.

If I switch off at the wall, I can then reset the breaker. Otherwise i have to wait a minute or so.

Setting the temperature dial lower means it trips sooner, higher it takes longer.

It was professionally installed about six years ago and gets very light use - about every couple of months.

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.

I doubt this is the type of fault that anyone can diagnose remotely, unless you are lucky enough for someone who has had the same problem reads your post. Unless you are electrically competant & have the necessary test equipment I would think you need to get an engineer to repair it, preferably a Baumatic specialist.

Thanks very much for your reply. If this was at my home I'd be in there like a shot, but it's in the kitchen at the church where I work so liability issues mean I don't diy anything involving mains power.

I'm hoping exactly that somebody might have seen this before, so I can get an idea about repair costs. I'll probably just replace it as I suspect repair will cost almost as much. Shame as we have two of these and keeping them identical would have made life easy, but this model is obsolete....

Baumatic may do. a fixed price repair, it will probably be worthwhile asking them, I think spares will be readily available for an oven only 6 years old. If it does prove to be not cost effective to have it repaired then you could strip out all the parts ( boards ,elements ,fan, thermostats, racks, switches etc. ) that might be useful for the other one in future. You may even see an obvious component or wire that is shorting to earth ( which is what is happening if the rcd is tripping) when you remove the parts.
One really strange oven fault I had that was tripping an RCD was the suppressor pcb contacts were shorting to the rear panel when the oven heated up, but given yours varies with the different temperatures I don't think that is your problem.

Thanks very much for your reply. I'll make enquiries about a fixed price repair.

It is odd that it varies with temperature, I can visualise a few ways this could happen but not knowing how it all actually works I can't really come up with a sensible theory. In the good old days etc..
I suppose if I pulled it out and found a wet spiderweb that might be a clue, but apart from that I can't go delving. Very frustrating....
