Beading for unequal laminate expansion gap

Hello all

This is my first time owning a 1970s home so I've got a fair bit of DIY to do.

I am guessing the previous owners fitted their own laminate flooring as there is a unequal expansion gap going from pretty much 0 to nearly 2 cm at different sides of the room.

I'm looking at ways to cover this gap save buying a new floor (well, it's in all rooms).

Flat beading appears to be the most suitable option. However I am sure I read somewhere that this needs to be secured to the floor itself... Other post to usual beading that is secured to the skirting to allow movement of the floor underneath....

Is this correct?

For these situations i use L profiles nailed to the skirting, so the floor can still float underneath.
If you prefer, they also sell other profiles which cover 25mm like half round, scotia etc.
