Belle mixer with 3.5hp Brigg stratton - stops working when loaded

I have had a Petrol mixer belle 150l with 3.5hp briggs stratton used a while back for a project with no power, Then stored in the garage for few years. The other day we put it outside and tried to start with no luck. Removed carburettor, pushed some air and bang started at first pull.

I then thought to bring to the site and use it as we are running power on generator to give her a bit of run after log time. Started the machine half load and then stopped. Look like the auto choke does not increase power to keep her running. While empty engine spin very well but once loaded it die under the load.

I think the auto choke does not work properly but would like your opinion as also I have no idea how to fix the auto choke. Also look for the carburettor rebuilt parts but struggling to find those.

Help on both topic would be appreciated

I’m unsure what you mean when you mention auto choke, Jonny but I would suspect the engine governor is not increasing the throttle opening when the engine is slowing up.....can you give us some pics of the carb, with the air cleaner off please?

John, Will take it apart tomorrow and will send some photos. For Auto choke you right I meant the engine governor

There is a lot of online information for various Briggs & Stratton engines. Can you get the model number off the engine? There might well be a "how-to" online.

Depending on the age of the machine, I guess it will be the side valve with the tank below the carb - and I'd go for a new diaphragm and gasket, part number 795083 if that was the case before delving further in.

I think that's the one...do check the engine numbers against the kit though.
No need to upset the governor here, but you'll need some aerosol carb cleaner.

Look like the number match the model. I will order re built kit and have a go. Already got carb cleaner

All sorted Chap. Diaphragm replaced. All cleaned up with carb cleaner. Seems to be working good again
