Best 18v cordless drill & impact combo for £200-£300?

Hi all,
I've got a pair of Erbauer drill drivers with 4x 14v 4Ah Ni-MH batteries which works fairly well for me but the battery chargers are now giving me grief. I'd like to step up to 18v and get a drill & impact combo with 2 x 4 or 5 Ah Li-ion batteries. I've been looking at Makita/DeWalt/Milwaukee as they 3 seem to be well reviewed by a number of people. However, when I look for those three at my price range, I seem to find lots of poor reviews for the individual tools - seems the ones I'm looking at are lower end than what the reviews are showing?

Can someone point me to the best combo for my budget please? It'd be greatly appreciated!
 
Often the dewalt twin set are sold in a sale maybe £100 off.
If you go the dewalt range
Impact driver, get the 3 speed version, Often kits only have the single speed
And Drill - look for a 7 series , My set came with the cheapest drill they do - Which so far has been really good and used for a DIY-er a lot
drilling 5mm in masonry upto 14mm in masonry.
I use with 3.5A batteries and the impact often has the lighter 2ah battery

My son-in-law has Dewalt for the main DIY stuff, but he does a lot of work on cars and buys the Milwaukee range for that.
I looked and found they where quite expensive so have stayed with dewalt and have a lot of cordless tools now
Jigsaw/Circular saw/Planer/Grinder/Rightangle drill/multitool/impact driver/combi drill

have a look at toolstation , they often have a set of dewalts around the £199 mark, down from near £300
FFX sometimes have a sale for dewalt

I know you can get that impact driver much cheaper , I paid under £100 for mine
for the DCF887 model

But I think the FFX is a good deal, although the 5ah batts maybe a bit heavy and large on the driver
As mentioned I tend to use a slim 2ah battery on both and good enough for general DIY

Brilliant, thank you so much for your response, massive help! I've decided on the following:

DCD796M2 from Toolstation you linked - £179.98
DCF787D2 from Manomano - £136.99

It'd be cheaper to buy the DCF787N from the FFX eBay store - £62.90 - but I wanted 2 extra 2Ah batteries and charger and the Manomano package was cheaper than getting it all separate.

what impact driver is that , its not the 3 speed, I would NOT get that
I use the 3 speeds all the time on the impact driver
Setting 1 for screws into wood with a countersink, with perhaps a Setting 2 to drive in countersink, setting one is very gentle and allowed me to put some small brackets up yesterday in a Bathroom cabinet for some additional shelving, also very slow with slight pressure
Then i use setting 3 often
Bolting up posts to a wall, getting a lawnmower blade off - and various other settings
So Personally i would NOT get the DCF787N and look for a deal on the DCF887

I used my DeWalt impact driver today for the first time. Bloody brilliant. It’s the three speed one. Speed one isn’t enough power to countersink screws in a 9mm ply board on top of floorboards using 20mm screws. I have a DeWalt 18v drill too that I’ve had for about 5 years and it’s a lot better having a tool for both instead of keep changing drills and bits. Also used my DeWalt multi tool today too. Came in very handy for taking up sections of tongue and groove floorboards. (y)
 
Ugh, I'm an idiot, you're right! Thanks for the speedy response! Cancelled the order for the DCF787... having a look around, I found this - contains DCD796, DCF887, charger & 2x 2Ah batteries for £224.99, plus I can get 2 x 4Ah batteries for £85.90 for the pair, total £310.89, am I on the right track now? ;-)

Sorry I reread my post, I meant to say
On Setting 1 , if i countersink the holes before hand , then the driver is perfect for that, on some very thin material 9mm I prefer to countersink myself , rather than lt the impact driver push the screw all the way through :) :)
On setting 2 , it will drive the head in and countersink itself.

For 2 tools a lot of batteries 4 batteries , unless you intend to buy more dewalt tools.
The multitool , i use a lot , brilliant tool, just started using saxton blades really made a difference to cutting compared with dewalt blades, quite impressed

That's absolutely fine! With FFX on eBay there's a 15% discount on the batteries, so it's not £101, but rather £85.90. I'm going for that, thank you so much! You're a star!
 
ffx often do discount vouchers on social media
and usually there e bay is about 5-8% more than in store price because off charges
 
Bought mine secondhand, lots around , 3 speed dewalt Impact drive and combi drill set for£120 including battery, bought charger and other batteries for under £50 .

Yep, used mine recently laying 9 x 8’x4’ 9mm ply boards down, screwing them in at approx every 8”. Must have used 5-600 screws. Easy work.
