Hi,

My kitchen waste pipes have finally disintegrated, after 20 years and lots of football strikes. I thought I’d take the opportunity to colour-match them to the grey soil pipes, etc, but there’s too much choice online for a DIYer!

It’s all push-fit currently, except for the compression fit 90 deg wall outlet, from the kitchen sink, but I can’t find anything on Toolstation or Screwfix.

Everything I’ve seen seems to be the same PP as I have now. Is there nothing UV-stable?

Any recommendations would be great. Should I simply stick with the cheapest?

Cheers.

Neither PP nor PB (push fit pipe) is UV stable., it's just the chemical make up of them both. ABS/PVC is the material to use if you want something that's UV stable & both would be glued.

Best policy is to paint plastic pipework with a suitable external, oil based Gloss. It will provide the necessary barrier to UV.

Think the only manufacturer who offered matching soil and waste pipe was Terrain, their solvent weld soil pipe and fittings were a 'greener' grey in colour. Although, looking at mine, the waste pipe has faded somewhat, with the fittings retaining their colour.

Note to self, must paint mine....
