Best gutter brands, and choosing a worker

Time to replace the PVC gutters, must be at least 25 yrs old, probably older. I was thinking of aluminium, but they're quoting 10 yr guarantee same as PVC. I'm 64 now, so not bothered about it lasting an entire lifetime! Also have been told that seamless aluminium can block more easily due to cleaning being a bit more difficult. One person quoted same price for aluminium as PVC, and after a bit said it was extruded aluminium.

Another seemed to be on the ball and said good PVC would do as well. Normally uses Floplast (I think) but in my case Swish, which is "extra good". Is it? I've looked at various manufacturer's sites and they all claim to be the leading make, including Floplast

I was also recommended deep flow as I'm in a very leafy area, and that makes sense.

This man is also Fair Trades and Home Pro, but again, I'm not sure whether to give this weight or it just means he's paid them. It's an established company but he's taken it over in last few years and the last Fair Trade review was 2012. Any significance?

Seamless aluminium makes a hell of a lot of noise in the rain. Cast aluminium is great.

For the other makes of plastic, they are all the same, and Swiss is a premium purely because it's sold as such in the Sunday magazines. I don't know any firm that actually specifies Swiss products.

Pick any and performance wise, you may as well pick the cheapest.

One thing to consider, is if the roof felt at the eaves is rotten and needs replacing. If so specify a plastic eaves tray to be fitted to make the rain run into the gutter, and not behind it.

I've just used floplast on my house. Seems good and easy to fit. All parts fit well too.

I've just changed a section of black floplast that was grey after 8 years and looked odd against some new fittings and downpipe. The same bits of gutter around the corner look Ok and have not faded so much, or at least is still all similar shade.

White plastic tends not to have the same problem, but brown is even worse.

And its the same for every manufacturer
