Best way patching holes in plaster (on indoors brick)?

Hey everyone,
Long story short, I got two big patches of plasterboard ripped out either side of the chimney breqst builders opening.

I plan to use Thistle base coat (hardwall) into the large patches.

After that I plan to apply multifinish coat. Is that okay?

Should I also cover the small scratched areas with mtifinish while I'm at it or just use easy fill for anything smaller like all scratches around it and small holes?

Edit: ignore the plasterboard infront of opening, it's to stop cats from getting inside.

And the opening will not be used for solid or gas fires.

Multi doesn't sand as good as easy fill, the rest of your plan sounds fine.

depends how good you are.
if you can prepare and skim then all well and good.
if not fill it and sand.
i’d cover the brick with bonding coat then prepare and skim the whole wall with multifinish.

Thanks all for the advice, I decided to put the hardwall base coat into the patches of open brick and then fill in with easy fill compound as I will definetely not achieve as good or close to good look as any professional here would.

I dont think I could skim whole wall properly using finish plaster. So will patch parts of uneven/scratched wall with easy fill so i can sand and not worry too much about stuff like problems when painting. Not as strong but I doubt ill regret it will defo last years imo. (Plus easy repair if dented again)

Incase anyones wondering, heres the result. Took a few layers of easyfill to get it flat. Didn't rush it.
