Trying to figure out the best way to hang a heavy bag off my garage trusses. Any ideas? Apologies if this is the incorrect place, new here.

If you do go ahead, the joists will be much stronger away from the centre

Get a punch bag stand, then you don't need to add weight to the joists.

80lb is less than 6 stone, it will probably hang of most things, try swinging off the beam or truss yourself first. What weight are you?

Are you going to practising hitting people that are less than 6 stone ? doesn't seem very ambitious

I weigh 180 lbs. This is simply for cardio at home, I box at a gym twice a week as well.

I'd be inclined to bolt it to the centre of an 8x4x1" thick plywood sheet screwed to three of the trusses, the bag hanging off the centre of the sheet.

When his kids get older he'll buy a bigger punch bag to practice on first.

Anywhere on this timbers will be fine for that weight, but as stated above nearer to the eaves the better, but anywhere will be fine.
