Binocular buying advice.

Thanks all. Plenty to think about. Definitely going to have to visit these places. One is right near my Sons place in Chelmsford so I'll try them first. No rush, as long as I've got them for Christmas as Mrs Mottie will be buying them for my Christmas present. Only stipulation from her is that they don't end up in the loft next to the fishing gear, the golfing gear, the toy robot, the motorcycling helmets, the chemistry set, the telescope......

you may find shortages, so i would check, my son was buying a camera for his daughter and lots of shops had no stock and did not know when they would come in. certainly the same situation with some tools particularly from dewalt , having visited axminster tools in devon last Friday !! they had no dewalt on show, as they cannot get hold of any for showroom, and only have a few online/in warehouse for order

Thanks. Once I have a few contenders I'll see if any Black Friday deals come up but all that seems to come up on that day is **** they can't get rid of at other times!

Update just to update this. After deciding that portability was my main criteria (otherwise I'd end up leaving them at home), I opted for a monocular. 10x42. Arrived today and it is superb! I can see craters on the moon with them! Very portable - just look at the size and only £150.
