hi there my avg antivirus keeps flagging this problem up on web pages Blackhole Exploit Kit (type 1889 could not find alot on google about it anyone else had problems

I had this pop up yesterday and today. Both times it was just after I logged in to Hotmail, using Chrome.

I googled it too and found a few posts dating as far back as June last year but no answers.....

An ex-girlfriend messaged me last night to say she had this on her screen. I advised her to run malwarebytes.

Just had it on my own screen while browsing Ebay (with Facebook open in the background) - I've a strong suspicion it may be a false positive but worth keeping an eye on.

yes i searched avg virus data base does not say anything about it , yet avg picked it up said it had stopped it

....... and just had it again while reading an Ebay message on my Hotmail.

I suspect that its something to do with a flagged site that Ebay uses to push their crap and advertising.

I could be wrong though ....

my partner had it on her laptop too wonder funny we have both upgraded to avg 2011 version free one what antivirus you running picbits. found some weird sites about it .

AVG Free something or another

Currently on my Ubuntu Linux boot so can't check.

I've had this pop up a couple of times over this weekend every time I was using Ebay.

Any idea what it is?

We're using AVG free, but I did not have eBay open or have any message from eBay in my inbox when the warning messages popped up. I did have Facebook open tho!

I found it strange too that although AVG found the problem, there is absolutely no info on their site about it.

Symantec say

Be a good idea if the bona fide AV progs offered a little sandbox to show just how they report different problems - I am guessing lots of people get caught by malware AV progs because they simply have no idea how their bona fide AV prog screens a notification when something potentially bad has been found or is about to happen !!
Not that this is relevant here, just a thought.
