Boiler condensate pipe angled upwards

Hey everybody I've recently moved into a new flat and have been waiting to have my gas uncapped and boiler recommissioned. The gas man is coming Friday but in the mean time I have noticed that the condensate pipe on my boiler has an uphill bits rather than consistently falling as I've read it's supposed to. I have attached a picture of the offending bit of pipework to illustrate. My question is should I insist that this pipe work be rerouted? It will be a bigger job, cupboard will have to be cut, new pipe etc, and I don't have much faith in t brown (the contractor) to do a good or speedy job(been without hot water since I moved two months ago). Will the boiler be able to run with a condensate pipe like this or will it just block and have errors in short order and is it even safe re potential carbon monoxide leakage? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated

I agree it's not perfect, but the water will find it's way out quite happily, it's not in any danger of freezing there so I wouldn't worry about it.

Whoever is re-commissioning (best of luck with finding someone that'll do that cheaply) should be looking at that. If there is a way to remove any upslope in the condensate run then it should be done.

I'm a council tenant so luckily there is a contractor to do the recommissioning, but unluckily they are T. Brown, who's reputation isn't exactly stellar. I will ask them to change the upward piping but at least from the sounds of what you say kidgreen61 it should still function and drain, albeit less efficiently, with the existing pipework

It’ll find it’s way, but I’d request it to be changed, as you don’t want an issue further down the line and be asked: “why didn’t you report it?”.

Might that 13amp socket have been installed post the boiler, and the pipe bent down to clear it?

Might have been installed after the boiler yes, but there’s not usually much play in a solvent weld condensate pipe, especially between 2 fixed points. Either lazy workmanship or diy/non trade.

It's lazy workmanship unfortunately. Contractors working for a local authority. I did wonder whether the condensate pipe had been positioned like that to allow access to the washing machine socket. Hopefully the guy from t brown who comes on Friday will admit the pipe needs redoing and be competent enough to install it properly unlike his colleagues.
