Looking for a bit of advice on our washing machine.

It's a Bosch Classixx 1200 Express (WAE24162UK) and until now has been faultless in operation. However last Sunday it began to trip the mains about 10 minutes into a cycle.

The main panel lights up, the drain pump seems to work, the motor spins (though I haven't been able to see it do high speeds due to the point it cuts off) and the door interlock works.

I took some advice from the web and pulled the machine out to inspect key parts.

-The heating element was removed and showed continuity both in and out of water (bucket test).
-The thermistor? seemed to check out OK too
-The drain pump was removed and cleaned. I found a wet grey paste which felt like grease inside the drum holding the motor armature. Having never seen one new I don't know if this is normal as it seems like a sealed unit.
-The main motor was removed. The brushes are around an inch long and worn evenly.

I've ordered a new drain pump, carbon brushes and heater element as they aren't expensive and all these parts are easy to replace.

Can anyone recommend any other checks on this machine? I wondered if it would be possible to disconnect each component and run the machine to eliminate the issue.

The bucket test ? Did you test for earth leakage between element terminals and the metal sheath of the element ?.

Is it the RCD that is tripping ( due to earth leakage ) or the MCB ( due to current overload ) ?

It's most likely the heating element, because it doesn't get switched on until the wash cycle has been going for 10 minutes anyway.
