Boxing In Electric Meter

Looking to box in this ugly arrangement on my landing wall upstairs, above two bedroom doors. If I box it in how it is now I will have trouble accessing the consumer unit.

I want to move the components highlighted in the red square next to my consumer unit to make boxing in an easier job.

Has anyone had any experience getting UK powernetworks to move a mains cable a short distance within the property?

It won't be cheap, the problem is the servcie head (blue box) which terminates the incomming cable (I'm assuming overhead supply), because its taped straight of the supply without any isolation, They'd probably have to send a couple of linesmen with cherry picker, who would disconnect the feed at the overhead lines, then come and remove and relocate the cutout and then go and reconnect the feed, its unlikely to be particualy cheap.

How far is that consumer unit off the back wall?, could you build a cupboard at the back that has a pair of outward opening doors over the meter and cutout, with a solid panel towards the corner, that the consumer unit butts up against? (if you can picture that?)
 
I would expect it would be much cheaper to have the consumer unit moved onto the same wall as the than paying the network supplier to move the cutout and meter. If above is just a loft space, it should be a fairly straight forward job moving the consumer unit. From the meter, the tails pass through an Henly block, so isolating the consumer unit to move it would be easy.

Move the alarm.
And then make a box that covers the left fuse meter junction.
Make the box so it just hooks over a batten at the top. So no tools required to remove
 
What part of the country are you in?

I’m assuming the incoming supply runs through the loft before coming to that position? Is there any slack or does it run past where you would like it to be positioned?
 
Sounds like boxing in will be the best option, thanks for your help on this one.

South East. The cable runs across my loft and actually runs past where i would like it to be positioned!
 
You can get your DNO to give you a quote to move the incomer. They may move the meter, or you may need to get your supplier to move the meter.
